The capstone Internship course offers students the opportunity to integrate their academic studies and apply their knowledge to real world scenarios. The applied approach to blend classroom exercises with actual support cases will finalize our students' learning experience. This course is designed to help our students make final connection between the concepts taught by instructors and how their skills will be used in their careers. Grading option: PASS/FAIL Prerequisite: Applied BAS degree students only.
The intent of this course is to allow students to enter into the IT workforce in a short-term opportunity. The minimum requirements for this five credit course is 132 hours of technology related work. The work can be paid or un-paid. We strongly encourage students to work as many hours as their employer will allow to gain as much experience as possible during their internship. Students can register for 5 or 10 credits. If you have registered for 10 credits you will need to double the number of work hours.
It is the student’s obligation to obtain the work for this course. The CS/IS department will assist if possible, but it is you the student’s responsibility to find work. Any known opportunities will be listed in Canvas discussions. The credit cannot be given for previous work experience. Students that are presently employed in a technology related job can use their current employment as the foundation for their internship. They will be required to participate in or complete task(s) or duties that are not part of the current duties that will enrich their knowledge of the IT industry and their employable skills. This must be coordinated with the course instructor before the work is started.
The minimum work may be completed with multiple employers to meet the minimum requirements for hours. The work can be divided into multiple roles, duties or tasks to meet the minimum requirements.
The work must be scheduled to be completed during the quarter the course is taken. A student may take CYBR475 in Spring Quarter and arrange to complete the work during the Summer Quarter. The arrangement must be in writing with a letter of confirmation from the employer. If the final paperwork is not completed in the timelines identified, the course grade will be adjusted to an F grade

Dear Mr. /Ms. (Cooperative Education Supervisor)
Professional Cooperative Education is part of a student’s learning experience. The overall goal of the cooperative experience for the student is to apply education and training in a work environment. Upon successful completion the student will receive credit for the cooperative experience
Each student and cooperative experience location is unique; therefore, a special contract must be developed for each one. The content and process of the experience will be determined mutually by you and the student. The student is required to be an understudy to a professional, solve problems as assigned, and produce products of value to the organization.
At least once and perhaps periodically, the SFCC cooperative education coordinator might make prearranged visits. The coordinator will call to make appointments at times when they can see you and the student. We look forward to continuing relationships that will be beneficial to your organization and Spokane Falls Community College students.
We look forward to working with you and hopes you will feel free to contact us whenever you have questions about any aspect of this cooperative education experience.
Thank you for your support of our programs.
Sincerely,
Rick Dubois
